Staff Spotlight - Greg, Falher Ag Sales Representative

As a kid growing up on the farm, Greg dreamed of being a hockey player like Guy LaFleur. He left the farm at 18 years old, got an Environmental Degree and started his own environmental consulting business but always missed the Ag industry. In 2010, Greg decided to look for a new career after he was in a vehicle accident that resulted in his leg being amputated. He was ready to get back to work and take on a new challenge! And although he didn't have sales experience, he convinced the team at Ross Ag Equipment to hire him as an Ag Sales Representative and has been selling John Deere equipment ever since.

Greg quickly learned the line-up of equipment and started building relationships with clients and co-workers, which happens to be what he likes most about his job; I've always said the best part of the job are the people. I also like working in the ag industry and selling because every day brings something different.

Dan, Falher's Branch Manager agrees that Greg is great with the people, Greg truly values his customers and does whatever it takes to ensure they are satisfied. He is very fair when making deals and spends countless hours demoing equipment.

And those hours spent in the field with clients pay off as Greg's most memorable moment from his career so far was making his first multi-unit combine deal when he sold 6 combines to one operation in 2012.

Since then, he has made many more deals to be proud of, and continued to watch the innovation of John Deere technology, as he commented, technology is advancing so fast, it's almost impossible to keep up with. Which may be why Greg prefers the older equipment as his favorite piece is the John Deere 730 2-cylinder tractor. He convinced his dad to buy one when he was a kid and still owns it to this day!

Outside of work you will find Greg on his farm with his wife and 4 children or cheering on his favorite sports teams. He currently has a farm which he refers to as a bad habit, including sheep, hay and crop land and when not busy with that he likes to enjoy a cold one watching the Edmonton Oilers or Saskatchewan Roughriders!

To end the interview, we asked Greg what is one fun fact about you? To which he replied, as far as I know I am the only one-legged salesman in Western Canada! We may not know whether that is true, but we greatly appreciate the sense of humor Greg brings to work every day and are happy and thankful to have him as part of our Martin Deerline team taking care of our agriculture clients in the North.

*Disclaimer: Martin Deerline merged with Agland as of July 31, 2024, and is now known as Horizon Ag & Turf
